Serving Huntsville’s drainage needs
Yard Drain Services the greater Huntsville area in North Alabama. We take pride in making the lawns and landscapes in Huntsville both beautiful and functional. The topography is greatly varied in the Huntsville and Madison county areas with Green Mountain, Chapman Mountain and other mountains as well as swampy lowlands in Owens Cross Roads, Hampton Cove, Triana and other areas. Many of our custom french drains, sump pumps, retaining walls and other drainage solutions were first designed and put to use in the Huntsville and Madison areas and are still keeping these landscapes from being destroyed by excessive storm water, mud, and erosion today.
One of the most common problems we encounter in Huntsville is poorly draining lawns with standing water or soggy and muddy ground. To correct this we usually intall a french drain system which lowers the water table and dries out the surface. These systems are invisible from above but are one of the key components to draining an area with a high water table. Often, in Huntsville, these yards are reletively flat and requre a sump pump to collect the water and dispose of it to a storm drain.
Another common problem in the more mountainous areas of Huntsville is erosion. When water flows too quickly over the surface of the ground it can strip the nutrients and erode the healthy topsoil causing cutouts and thin lawn grass. The most common solutions we have for these erosion problems are retaining walls, catch basins, and swales. Retaining walls can be used to create level terraces that will prevent the water from running so fast over the surface of the ground thereby reducing the water impact on the soil. All of our retaining walls have built in drains and are engineered with surcharge, hydrostatic pressure, and structural stability in mind. The soil wedge theory is used to calculate the required anchoring system. Swales can be installed to collect and direct the water as needed and to keep the fast moving water out of your lawn. Catch basins and storm drains can be installed to take storm water underground and prevent it from damaging your soil structure.
We look forward to serving the residence of Rocket City as we work together to create green and beautiful lawns and landscapes. Watch for us in your neighborhood.
